A Review of Boulder Creek Pizza Pub in the Local San Lorenzo Valley Area

Written by Lio Rowan (Features Writer)

The Boulder Creek Pizza Pub is a centerpiece of our little town. Opened in 2012, it feels like they’ve been a part of our town forever. Originally opened by Justin Acton, this Pizza Pub is special, they are proud supporters and donors to the San Lorenzo Valley Museum, Boulder Creek Elementary, boys & girls sports, SLV Charter School, AA Fellowships, Valley Churches United Missions, Community Mountain Theater, BCBA, and other community organizations. On the outside, it looks like any other dingy pizza place with a fair amount of parking albeit not the prettiest exterior. However, inside is where the magic begins. The pub has a large interior. With many many seating options, and even a little arcade. It has lower and upper seating, with booths and tables to choose from. You can seat large parties during safer times, or go solo with the comfortable booths. There’s a deep red aesthetic and calming lighting for the best experience. They have TVs and play current sports, and they have a soda machine by the counter.

Their menu options offer a wide variety of pizzas, from making your own to plain cheese. However, they also have sandwiches, pasta dishes, salads, and desserts, making it a place where everyone can find what they want. Their pizza is decent, it has a lot of sauce but is saved with its delicious crust and well-cooked toppings. With such a variety of toppings, it’s hard to complain. The service is excellent. You order from the front and your food is brought to your seat. The setting is very casual, you pick your seats and often kids are running around, it makes it feel familial, a good place to celebrate a softball homerun or a passed test. There is a bit of a wait for the food sometimes, but you’ll find that at any restaurant with such a vast menu.

They also deliver, which is perfect if you don’t want the dine-in experience, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. However, that can jack up the price. Indeed, it’s ever slightly more expensive than some other pizza places. However they have a very high-quality product, and it seems worth it. They even offer gluten-free and vegan options, with gluten-free crusts and buffalo wings, and vegan/gluten-free pizzas too. They have veggie pizzas with no cheese, and their veggies are locally grown and produced by farmers near us.

Now, my favorite item they offer, and their current claim to fame, is their cinnamon twists. These twists are something otherworldly. They come with a side of cream cheese frosting and are served hot and fresh. I could seriously live off of these. They are crispy and sugar-coated on the outside, and soft and doughy on the inside. They leave me speechless. 10/10 I recommend it. Sadly, I can’t go in and enjoy the comfortable indoor dining. However, they can offer indoor or outdoor dining during the pandemic, as well as delivery and pick-ups. Before covid they also catered. They can cater to big parties and small parties alike at a pretty cheap price.

The Boulder Creek Pizza Pub is a staple in this town, and it has brought together families and feeds them too. I honestly enthusiastically recommended this restaurant. With excellent food, and an even better interior. This pizza place has a special place in our hearts.
