In February of 2020 the world shut down, leaving us to quarantine inside of our houses without much to do. Many of us are tired of watching the same shows on tv and playing the same video games over and over again, so here are some things that you can do at home to take your mind off everything going on around us.
As you are stuck at home social distancing it is quite easy to forget to stay active and many of us would rather just lay around all day. However, this is actually a great time to start exercising as it has been a proven way to increase your mental health and relieve stress. Even though most gyms are shut down, there are still many ways you can have a good workout at home with hardly any equipment.
Through all of this lockdown, I’m sure I’m not the only one who misses going to their favorite restaurants. Though we still can’t go to most restaurants to get our favorite meals, we can bring the restaurant to our home as this time is probably the perfect time to learn how to cook! You can start by trying to replicate a dish from your favorite restaurant and even if you do not know how to cook, there are plenty of tutorials out there on the internet and on youtube.
At this point you might be sick of spending time with your family but after all they are still your family and maybe all you need is something to relieve the stress from the outside world. Now this one is more for the entire family, since all the movie theaters are closed this seems like the perfect time to have a family movie night. A couple ideas for the movie night might be to make a large bowl of homemade popcorn and put on a movie that everyone likes, but what happens when you can’t find something to watch? Luckily there are video streaming services such as HBO where you can stream some new movies plus dozens of movies and shows you can’t find on netflix or hulu.
This has overall been a rough time for all of us, but we need to do what we can to help this situation get better. As we stay home our stress and mental health can worsen significantly which is why I hope that this article can help relieve some of that stress.
