How People are Planning to Spend Their Summer Despite Being in Quarantine

Summer of 2020 is just around the corner and despite COVID-19 and the quarantine it brought with it students at SLVHS are very excited for this summer. Although we may still be social distancing, many people still have ideas of what they can do to make the most out of this summer and do as many fun things as they can.

I asked a few students about what they think they are going to do this summer or things they want to do this summer. The first student I interviewed was Marlee Hanning. She said, “I’m really excited to do Junior Guards, if that is allowed this summer. Mostly I just want to go to the beach a lot and swim in the ocean. I was going to go to Disneyland this summer but that got canceled because of the virus. I hope this all clears up soon because I want to plan more vacations.”

The next person I asked was Emma Gipson. She said “I had a few trips planned for this summer but they all got canceled because of the virus. I think I’m just going to go to the beach a lot, and if the county opens back up I’ll hang out with my friends and do lots of shopping.”

Lastly I asked Kylie Herzon. She said, “I will probably go to the beach a lot if we are still in quarantine, but if the county opens up I will go on vacations and hang out with friends.”

For me, I had a few trips planned this summer but they got postponed until after the virus. I was supposed to go to Disneyland, Hawaii, and Arizona but those probably won’t be happening this summer. If we are still in the shelter-in-place, I will just social distance with my friends at the beach or at the river. If the county opens up I will try to plan vacations with my friends, do lots of shopping, and spends lots of time outside on trails or at the beach.

Whether we still have to  shelter-in-place or not this summer, you can always do things around your house like yard work, gardening, laying out in the sun, hanging out with your family, or going on walks. If we are out of the shelter-in-place order, there are lots of fun things to do like go to the beach, hang out with friends, travel, shop, go to the movies, and many more! Overall, remember to stay safe and social distance until it is safe for everything to go back to normal. Have a good summer!
