Smoothie Recipes to Try At Home

Written by Sierra Mattair (Features Writer)

One of the most popular things that quarantine has brought to us is eating and drinking… a lot. One of my favorite things to make when I am stuck at home is smoothies! They are perfect for a hot day outside, a quick snack, or a way to obtain necessary nutrients in a delicious way. Here are ten quick and easy smoothie recipes for you to make at home.

The first recipe is for a Banana Chocolate Smoothie. You will need 1 banana, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 ¼ cup of milk, and 2 scoops of ice cream. The second recipe is Kiwi Strawberry. It consists of ⅔ cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen), ¾ cup of milk, and 2 kiwis. Next, is a Peach and Orange Smoothie. You will need a 7 oz can of peaches, 5 tablespoons of yogurt, ½ cup of orange juice, and 1 teaspoon of honey. The fourth smoothie is Summer Berry. The ingredients you will need are 1 cup of frozen berries, 1 ¼ cup of milk, and 1 teaspoon of honey. Another smoothie recipe is Mango Orange. It consists of 1 mango, ¾ cup of orange juice, 1 banana, and 3 tablespoons of yogurt. The sixth smoothie you can make is Strawberry Pineapple. You will need 1 cup of strawberries, ⅔ cup of pineapple juice, and ⅔ cup of yogurt. Next, is Banana and Peanut Butter. It consists of 1 banana, 1 tablespoon of Peanut Butter, and 1 ¼ cup of milk. Another smoothie is a Mango Lassi. You will need 1 mango, ⅓ cup of yogurt, and ⅓ cup of water. The ninth smoothie recipe is Watermelon citrus. You will need ½ watermelon, the juice from 1 whole lime, and 1 ¼ cup of orange juice. Lastly, you can make a Banana Mango Smoothie. It consists of 1 banana, 1 mango, ⅔ cup of yogurt, and 1 ¼ cup of pineapple juice.

You can always substitute other ingredients in or add some things to put your own personal twist on it. If you want it to be vegan, you can substitute the yogurt and ice cream for vegan ice cream or just take it out. To replace the thickness it may lack, you can add ice cubes. You can also use almond milk or coconut milk instead of regular milk. Another helpful tip is to add a handful of raspberries to the blended smoothie to make a pretty color. Enjoy your smoothies!
