SLV soccer is just getting started with preseason games. Both varsity boys, and girls teams have had games so far. Boys Varsity lost their first game 2-1, and won their second game 3-1 against Hollister. Jv boys and girls have not had any games yet, but are working hard preparing for their games ahead.
Despite the Boys Varsity’s loss, they came out and played a good against Hollister. Junior, Danny Cardenas said, “I want to win more games this year.” As the season is just starting, they have already gotten a win and his goal for the season seems to be taking affect. Although they lost their first game Danny did score one goal. He also says their team goals are to “Play well together as a team and win as much as possible.” The boys Varsity Cougars have started off their preseason good so far and are only looking up from here. Their first regular season game is January 9th, giving them a whole month to prepare and be ready for the regular season coming up.
Varsity girls soccer have played one game so far and crushed it! They played Anzar and beat them 10-0. Their preseason is just starting up and they have one win under their belts. Freshman on Varsity Emma Gipson said, “I want to accomplish becoming a better player and trying to be more physical this year.” She also says,“High school soccer has a lot of skilled players, girls are definitely more physical. The girls who play high school really want to be here and have dedication, where middle school was just for fun.” Another freshman on varsity, Camilla Juarez, said: “I want to form friendships with my teammates.” The girl’s varsity team is looking good continuing the preseason.
Neither of the JV teams, boys or girls, JV teams have had any preseason games yet. Both teams are practicing hard every day and are getting ready for their first preseason games.
All of SLV’s soccer teams are working hard or getting wins. They are expecting to have good seasons of soccer this year and are looking forward to what lies ahead.
