Should we be suspicious regarding the JFK files?

The US government released thousands of  files regarding the assassination or our former president, John F. Kennedy. However it was later found that many more were being withheld upon request from the CIA and FBI in order to protect our national security. It has rumored that this is only making conspiracy theorists more curious about what is “really” going on. Is this really compromising national security or is there more to these documents that should not be seen by the US?

Before Kennedy’s assassination he was warned by his younger brother that the 70-page book being released about Marilyn Monroe’s death entitled, The Strange Death of Marilyn Monroe, included claims that President John F. Kennedy  was having an affair with her the night of her death. However, Kennedy claimed to be in San Francisco with his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy, on the night of her death. In the book, Frank A. Campbell, the author, wrote specifically that the affair “was well known to her friends and reporters in the Hollywood area.” Strangely enough, this book was never publicized. It is rumored that she not only had an affair with John F. Kennedy, but his younger brother Robert as well.

People.com stated that, “Further fueling the theory that the Kennedys were somehow involved in Monroe’s death are witnesses’ claims that they heard a disturbing tape, from the bugged Monroe home on the night she died, on which the voices of actor Peter Lawford, an angry Bobby Kennedy and a screaming Monroe are audible.” This suggests that the Kennedy’s might have been involved in this, and somehow the files that have been withheld goes into greater detail about this.

On October 21, the White House released this statement, “The president believes that these documents should be made available in the interest of full transparency unless agencies provide a compelling and clear national security or law enforcement justification otherwise.” After being informed about this story, a SLV student said, “If something was not wrong with those specific files, they would have been released before now.” The student continued to say “It was an obvious government cover-up. The fact that several thousand documents are still not released brings up the question, what could possibly be a National Security issue from 54 years ago?”

Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald who fired 2-3 shots at John F. Kennedy’s limo from the 6th story window of the Texas School Book Depository. He was a temporary employee at the time. Kennedy was immediately rushed to the hospital because his head was severely wounded. Around an hour and a half later, Oswald was captured due to him shooting at an officer. Two days later he was at a nightclub and was shot by the owner himself, Jack Ruby, while in police custody.  Sarah Hanson, an SLV student said “I believe that this was all an elaborate set up. When I watched a video of the shooting, Kennedy’s head was obviously thrown back. If he had been shot in the back of head like it has been said, then why did his head get thrown forward? The files they are withholding probably have something in them about an inside job.” This mystery has clearly brought up more questions than answers. What could be in the files that they don’t want us to know about? Why?
