After a 3-0 loss to Pinewood last week, the Cougars volleyball team (1-19) were looking to defeat St. Francis (10-12) in their last league matchup at San Lorenzo Valley Thursday night, but were defeated 3-0.

The Cougars got off to a difficult start, lacking effort, communication in game time, and preparedness for how hard St. Francis was. They ended the first set with a score of 13-25. When Head Coach Rachel Gregory altered the line up, the Cougars came out strong, motivated, and refreshed, sparking a slow turnaround ending the second game with a closer score of 17-25.
The Cougars maintained their expectations all night, keeping up with St. Francis and not letting them out of their sight. However, offensively, the Cougars could not sustain a steady drive, and defensively, they couldn’t just couldn’t stop St. Francis from scoring.
Overall, the Cougars lost the third game 13-25, the same score of the first game. Lack of effort, communication, and being unprepared resulted in their third consecutive loss.
The Cougars hope to end their losing streak and go on to improve throughout the rest of their season.
