Exciting summer events in Santa Cruz for local teens

This summer grab your friends and take advantage of one of the many events that our area offers. With  74 days of summer, try to fill as many of these days with events such as concerts, food, movies and more.

• Free movies on the beach!
Every Wednesday at 9 p.m. head to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for a free movie on the beach. This offer begins on June 25th with The Lost Boys and ends on August 13th with The Goonies. Go to beachboardwalk.com/movies/ for a complete list of showings.

• Church Street Fair

On August 2nd through August 3rd from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. come and enjoy live bands, food, dance performances and local art. The fair is located on Church Street near the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. Free

• Free concerts on the beach!

From June 13th through August 29th go to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk every Friday. There are two shows every Friday one at 6:30 p.m. and the other at 8:30 p.m. For a list of performing bands go to beachboardwalk.com/concerts/.

 • Summer Blockbusters!

The blockbusters of summer 2014 include long awaited movies such as 22 Jump Street, the sequel to the hit 21 Jump Street premiering June 13th. Two film adaptions of bestselling books include The Fault in Our Stars which premieres June 6th and The Giver on August 15.

• 42nd Annual Wharf to Wharf Race

Get in shape in time for the Wharf to Wharf Race on July 27th. Run 6 miles along the beautiful coast from Santa Cruz to Capitola. Register as soon as possible because space is limited to 15,000 runners. If running is not your thing, then consider cheering runners on and enjoy the live bands, food and festivity along the route.

• Concerts at the Shoreline Amphitheatre

These concerts take place in an ideal location in Mountain View, and are definitely worth the drive. Performing artists include OneRepublic, The Script, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts.
