This Fall, our graduated seniors will be headed off in different directions and states; here are just a few of the many college decisions that have already taken place:
Sophie is headed off to Wisconsin and will be attending Ripon College in Ripon for Fall of 2014. She is excited that she will be living in a new place and she’s looking forward to seeing new faces and learning more about the things she loves. Sophie admits, “I am a little nervous because it is so far away, but I have family near by to visit when I get homesick and Skype will be my best friend!” Ripon College is it is a small liberal arts college that has a great theatre and English program. Sophie states, “the class sizes are small and discussion based which is exactly how I like to learn!” Sophie will be majoring in Theatre Arts and minoring in Philosophy and Poetry. Go Redhawks!
Celia is excited to be attending CSU, Long Beach, and she says she’s most looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing new things outside of the valley. She’s nervous about leaving for college but she says that because she’s not going too far away so she can come back and visit often! Celia says, “the reason why I chose this school is because they have good programs in fashion design and also offer journalism as a major. I also liked that I don’t have to leave California so I can still have the beach weather.” Celia is majoring in Journalism with a minor is fashion design. Go Prospector Pete!
Tian is headed to CSU, Chico for his college career next Fall. He is really excited for the four-year college experience and says, “I’m looking forward becoming an independent individual, living away and experiencing life on my own.” Tian picked Chico State because of their diverse majors, and is looking forward to doing Pre-Med. He was excited to share that he got in contact with the baseball coach as well as the baseball team, and is hoping he will be able to play with them next year. Go Wildcats!
Carrie chose Mills College in Oakland because she says it’s a school that will help her reach her goals in life. She confesses that it will be scary leaving for college and that she is very nervous, but she knows it is going to be a good school for her Pre-Med career. Carrie says, “I picked mills because they have a 85 to 90% average acceptance rate into medical school after following their pre med track. I also chose mills because they have offered me a very generous scholarship!” Go Cyclones!
Claire is eager to be attending University of Utah and she is very excited to be somewhere new. She says she’s not nervous yet but she knows she’ll probably will be later this summer. Claire says, “I picked this school because it’s new and different and I haven’t meet someone bad yet there. When I was there I felt home away from home.” She is currently undecided on her major but is leaning towards Civil Engineering. Go Swoops!
Jessica Ochoa:
Jessica will be in Oregon next year at Portland Community College. She is really looking forward to experiencing Oregon and she says she’s definitely nervous but feels ready.
Jessica said, “I chose Portland Community because I have always loved Oregon, and Portland seems convent.” Jessica current doesn’t know her major but knows she wants to minor in Psychology. Go Panthers!
Jordan is excited that he will be attending CSU, San Diego. He is looking forward to seeing new faces everywhere he turns. Jordan tells us that he’s a little bit nervous but he knows that he’ll have good friends so he won’t be completely alone. He says, “I picked this college because they set you up for a job immediately when you’re out and I don’t want my financial stature to be a question mark.” Jordan will be working to become a civil engineer and go into their graduate bioengineering program. Go Warriors!
Claire is excited to soon be attending UC Davis. She is most looking forward to living on her own and learning how to be independent. Claire says, “I chose this school because it was in a good location for me and it is not too close or far away and I really like the area”. Claire will be majoring in Art History. Go Gunrocks!
Shelby Mcderment:
Shelby is looking forward to being at San Jose City College this Fall. She is most excited for the freedom of college and being able to learn. Shelby says, “I picked this school because the softball coach invited me to go play and also, the school really cares about academics and it really drew me in. It is more learning oriented and I really like that”. Shelby is not yet committed to what she wants to do but most likely it will be civil engineering. Go Jaguars!
Sam is traveling far and is headed out to Chicago to attend North Park University. Sam is looking forward to being in the city and says “I visited and it felt right, and academically it fits into what I’m looking for and need.” Sam admits he’s very nervous but excited at the same time. He is majoring in communications with a specialty in documentary film making and journalism and is also getting his certificate in nonprofit business management. Go Vikings!
Jennifer is going to Cabrillo this year and is ready to be in a new place and to meet new people. She says, “I’m upset I’m leaving all my friends but I feel it’s a new experience and I’m ready to do that.” Jennifer chose Cabrillo because it is close by and wants to get her General Education done first. She is majoring in business with a minor in communications. Go Seahawks!
Lauren will soon be headed off to Oregon to attend Oregon State University. She is most looking forward to meeting her roommate and joining their ultimate frisbee club. Lauren says, “I chose Oregon State because it is one of the top research programs in the North-West and they have the major I wanted too.” Lauren will be majoring in Fish and Wildlife sciences.
